While the conditions are rare in parent breeds and not yet known in the Australian Labradoodle, the ALA promotes ethical breeding practices. Through screening our breeding dogs, we are able to make Informed breeding choices that ensure our breed is healthy and strong and remains free of preventable life limiting conditions. Ultimately this policy will enable us to eliminate these diseases from the breed in the future. The ALA will continue to endorse health screening practices as they become available.

When you purchase a puppy from an ALA accredited breeder you now do so knowing that comprehensive DNA testing has guided the breeder to select the parents of your puppy in the hope that he or she will lead a long and healthy life as a valued member of your family.

The expanded policy now includes screening for the following conditions:

  1. Cystinuria
  2. Centronuclear Myopathy
  3. Exercise Induced Collapse
  4. Myotubuular Myopathy X Linked
  5. Neonatal Encephalopathy
  6. Von willebrands disease Type I,
  7. Degenerative Myelopathy
  8. Autosomal Hereditary Recessive Nephropathy
  9. Phosphofructokinase Deficiency (Glycogen Storage disease)
  10. Progressive Renal Atrophy (PRA)
